Terms and Conditions

SpotCheck Academy – Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions govern access to and use of SpotCheck Academy courses and digital learning platforms by cosmetic practitioners and other learners. By enrolling on a course, creating an account or using the Academy website, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. About SpotCheck Academy

SpotCheck Academy provides face to face and online education focused on dermoscopy, lesion safety and governance for cosmetic practitioners. Training is designed to support safer cosmetic practice but does not replace formal clinical training, professional regulation or local governance requirements.

2. Eligibility and professional responsibility

  • Academy courses are intended for adults (18+) working in, or training for, aesthetic and cosmetic practice or related healthcare roles.
  • You remain responsible for ensuring that your practice is within your professional competence, scope of practice, local protocols, insurer requirements and relevant UK regulation or guidance (e.g. CPSA, CQC, professional regulators).
  • Completion of a course does not in itself authorise you to diagnose, treat or remove lesions; clinical decisions remain your responsibility and must be based on appropriate assessment, supervision and referral pathways.

3. Formation of contract

  • Course details and prices are published on the Academy website or booking materials.
  • A contract is formed when SpotCheck Academy confirms acceptance of your booking (for example via confirmation email or platform notification).
  • These Terms apply to all Academy courses and services and take precedence over any conflicting terms supplied by you unless explicitly agreed in writing.

4. Use of the platform and content

  • You are granted a non‑transferable, limited licence to access course materials for your own professional education only, for the duration specified at purchase.
  • You must not copy, share, resell, upload publicly, or otherwise distribute course materials, recordings, assessments or platform content without prior written permission.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login details and for all activity under your account; you must notify us promptly of any suspected unauthorised access.

SpotCheck Academy may suspend or terminate access where there is reasonable suspicion of misuse, plagiarism, sharing of logins, harassment or other serious breach of these Terms, without entitlement to a refund.

5. Educational nature of content – no clinical advice

• Courses, case discussions and resources are provided for educational purposes and general governance guidance only.
• They do not constitute personalised medical advice for individual patients or substitute for face to face clinical assessment, diagnostic services or formal specialist training.
• Any illustrative lesion assessments, algorithms or risk frameworks must be applied cautiously and adapted to your professional role, regulatory framework and local referral pathways; clinical decisions remain your responsibility.

6. Fees, payments and refunds

• Course fees and any applicable taxes are stated at the time of booking and must normally be paid in full before access is granted.
• Details of cancellations, transfers and refund rights are set out in the separate SpotCheck Academy Refund & Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
• Where purchases fall under UK consumer legislation, your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and Consumer Contracts Regulations are not affected.

7. Certificates, CPD and accreditation

  • Where a course includes a certificate or CPD hours, eligibility will depend on meeting stated completion requirements (for example attendance thresholds, assessment pass marks, or completion of feedback).
  • Certificates confirm participation and learning outcomes only; they do not guarantee competence or confer any formal professional status or registration.

Any external accreditation or CPD endorsement will be described in the course information and may be subject to change where accrediting bodies update their frameworks.

8. Behaviour, integrity and academic conduct

9. Service changes, availability and maintenance

  • SpotCheck Academy aims to keep course information accurate and to deliver modules as advertised, but reserves the right to update content, trainers, dates, formats or technology platforms where reasonably necessary (for example to reflect new evidence or guidance).
  • Access to online platforms may occasionally be interrupted for maintenance, upgrades or circumstances beyond our control; reasonable steps will be taken to minimise disruption and extend access where appropriate.
  • Where a course is cancelled or materially changed by the Academy, you will be offered options such as transfer to another date or a refund in line with the Refund & Cancellation Policy.

10. Liability

  • SpotCheck Academy will use reasonable care and skill in designing and delivering its educational services.
  • To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Academy is not liable for:
    • any indirect or consequential loss (including loss of income, business, contracts or reputation); or
    • any claim arising from how you apply course content in your own clinical setting, as clinical decisions remain your responsibility within your professional and regulatory framework.
  • Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under UK law.

11. Data protection and privacy

Personal data collected in connection with your course enrolment and learning activity will be handled in accordance with the SpotCheck Academy Privacy Policy. This includes how your learning records may be used for governance, certification and quality‑improvement purposes.

By using the Academy platforms, you acknowledge that your data may be processed for these purposes, subject to your data‑protection rights under UK GDPR.

12. Intellectual property

All course materials, recordings, assessments, logos, graphics and platform content are protected by copyright and other intellectual‑property rights owned or licensed by SpotCheck Academy and/or its faculty.

Except as expressly permitted for personal educational use, you may not copy, adapt, translate, publish, upload, share, sell or create derivative works from Academy content without written permission.

13. Third party links and resources

The Academy platforms may include links to third‑party websites, resources or tools for convenience. SpotCheck Academy is not responsible for the content, accuracy, availability or privacy practices of external sites, and inclusion of a link does not imply endorsement.

14. Changes to these Terms

SpotCheck Academy may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes in law, guidance, technology or course offerings. The latest version will be posted on the Academy website and will apply from the date of publication; continued use of the platform or enrolment on new courses after that date indicates acceptance of the updated Terms.

15. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of them are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The English courts will have non‑exclusive jurisdiction, meaning you may also be able to bring proceedings in your country of residence where consumer laws provide this right.

SpotCheck Academy’s overarching aim under these Terms is to provide clear, fair and robust conditions that support high‑quality education, promote patient safety and help reduce the risk of harm from cosmetic treatment of undiagnosed skin lesions.
